Adult Child Support
Child support can continue beyond the age of 18 in situations where the adult child lacks the capacity to be employed and to otherwise be self-sufficient. These are often hard-fought court battles as the "non-custodial" parent may be responsible for child support for decades beyond the child reaching the age of 18. California Family Law code section 3910 is quite simple as to adult child support; however the precedent court cases upon which the judge relies are quite complex and subject to various interpretations. Our office has nearly 100 percent success in obtaining adult child support on behalf of disabled young adults (though past experience cannot be a guarantee of future case success). That is because
1) We retain cases that have merit, and
2) Present relevant data, assessments and credible trial witnesses (e.g.: regional center case managers) at court.
